Today, (18th of August 2013), I went for a walk down to Grunerløkka by Hausmania and Strykejernet art school in Oslo, Norway, to shoot. The walls were covered in graffiti, characters, letters and posters that together acted as different visual layers. In these double exposures I have 'concentrated' these layers to provide a stronger and more complex expressions. These photographies are mostly inspired by Thomas Mann's book 'Death in Venice', which was published in 1912. The double exposures are also a reaction to the chemical attacks in Syria on 21th of August 2013, which particularly affected women and children. The photographies therefore have a disturbing undertone covered in layers of information.
Congratulations to the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) with the Peace Prize in 2013, to have destroyed 80% of the world share of chemical weapons!
